Fiberwig Mascara & Bourjois Lipstick: Rock It This Weekend

Weekends are for golden bangles and loud makeup. Put them together, and light the dancefloor on fire.

What you need:

1) Flutter: Fiberwig Mascara ($22, Sephora), the best-selling mascara in Japan.

2) Blaze: Bourjois Rouge Best Red in #15 ($14, Sephora). Test-drove #15 and it definitely goes vroom. This is what it looks like....

3) Jingle: With bangles ($24, UrbanOutfitters.com).

Orange Crush

Since I tend to have lots of crushes, I also like fruit that has been crushed into beauty products. Zia Aloe and Citrus Wash is one of the few things I own that is just not allowed to leave my bathroom cabinet--ever.

Of course, some days I wish all my crushes could live in my bathroom cabinet, but that would be "wrong."

Eyeshadow Government Extra!
Eating fruit makes you beautiful too. My new thing: Jumble slices of cantaloupe, strawberry, & honeydew with a few sprigs of mint and mango slices. It's super happy.

Buy it: Zia Aloe & Citrus Face Wash ($5 to $15, depending on size), Whole Foods.

Blades of Glory: Strike A Pose

Eyeshadow Government's beauty icon of the day is Jon Heder. It's rare for a man to wear bubblegum lip gloss with such grace, style and humility. On ice skates too.

To really wear the Blades of Glorious Look, we toned down the candy colors and found some muted shades for a "wearable" daytime effect. Try Dr. Hauschka Lipstick in Adagio for a tender pink pout as a base, and layer with L'Oreal Hip Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in Dreamer. Or splurge and make your kisses do figure eights with Nars Lip Gloss in Harlow.

Buy it: L'Oreal Hip Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in Dreamer, drugstores; Dr. Hauschka Lipstick in Adagio ($21), Whole Foods;
Nars Lip gloss in Harlow ($23), Sephora or www.beauty.com.

By Terry Light-Expert Foundation Brush

I tried By Terry Light-Expert Foundation Brush an hour ago and found myself lost in a dizzy "foundation paradise" I never knew existed. By Terry Light-Expert is a cross between a foundation pen and a Jedi saber. Click it and the pen fills with luscious, top-notch foundation. Then, brush it on, and weep from the quality of this Parisian makeup.

But then I solved the riddle of By Terry. How? Why?

Fast-forward to my vintage Yves Saint Laurent addiction. Terry de Gunzberg is a makeup artist whose relationship working for Yves Saint Laurent spanned fourteen years. And she painted faces for photographers like Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin.

Wow and dangerous hot. Worth fighting for at Barneys? Oui: Try the Apricot Light #2.

Buy it: By Terry Light-Expert Foundation Brush ($54), available at Barneys, eLuxury.com , or ya know, Paris.

LeClerc Cat Fight: Mix and Match

These NYT fashionistas got into a catfight, and I can't help but wonder whether Anita LeClerc is descended from the French Theophile LeClerc who invented rice-based powder, actually the compact in my pocketbook right now, or the LeClerc former pirate?

Buy it: T. LeClerc Pressed Powder ($46), Bigelow Chemists.

Readers and Redken: You're My True Friends

Britney Spears and I finally have something in common. She just got out of rehab, and so did my hair. My toasted hair is 80% back, but the path to recovery can be long.

Thanks ladies for all your help. I'm sorry I couldn't go with Juniper's recommendation because the only Sally Beauty Supply is a huge trek, but I did stay away from blowdryers and rock the barette thanks to your advice.

Then in a daze, and hungry for moisture, I bought Redken's All Soft Heavy Cream. The avocado oil in this puppy is tenacious and with a few more sessions, I think my hair will be back and better than ever. Wish me luck!

Buy it: Redken All Soft Heavy Cream ($15.00), drugstores.

Sound Advice from the Benefit Sisters

I was reading this magazine, and the sisters who founded Benefit cosmetics had a great tip. Put your lipstick on, if you wear it, before all your other makeup.
Especially if you're a beginner, this will really help.

If you put on blush and eyeshadow afterwards, you can find yourself using less and avoid overdoing the cheeks and eyes.

Buy it: Benefit lipstick ($16), Benefit and department stores.
