1. Alexys is off to the races at Fashionbater. Follow that girl!

Alexys is too modest to mention that she looks this stylish, uhhhh, every day. I have spent many afternoons with her in Los Angeles, with nary a dull outfit or conversation. We always have so much fun.  http://fashionbater.blogspot.com

2. Natalie's site Stereogrammar.tumblr.com just launched. The topic at hand: obscure, electronic-60sish-neat-avant-garde music. Also, apparently, the brain of Natalie (she is very sweet and can fit inside an eggshell carton) is filled with owls that dance to electronic music.  (I learn things about my friends when they blog.)

Beauty Inspiration: Inge Grognard

Inge Grognard is one of the most incredible makeup artists working today, and I am dying to talk to her.

I recently stopped short after seeing an image of her work in the book "Belgian Fashion Design" (Ludion Ghent-Amsterdam, 1999), edited by Luc Derycke and Sandra van de Veire. Grognard had created a deconstructed eyelash look by...I believe...snipping off the model's natural lashes, and then arranging bits and pieces of fake eyelashes along her eyes. The lashes curved and arced in every direction, like a Kandinsky painting.

This is a simpler look she did for i-D magazine with Kate Moss. Although this issue is from 2001, there is nothing dated about it.

Try it out: Apply Shiseido The Makeup Accentuating Color Stick in Bronze Flush ($33, Sephora) along the cheekbones and blend. Wet an eyeshadow brush, dip it into a pot of Make Up For Ever Metal Powder in Honey Gold 3 ($22, Sephora), and carefully apply the gold color to each eyelid. Allow to dry. Leave the area above the eyelid and below the eyebrow bare.

Then, add liquid black eyeliner and black mascara. Keep lips toned down and subtle with a neutral shade, such as Tokidoki Prisma Lip Gloss in Donutella ($15, Sephora).
