Spring Beauty Trend: Orange Lipstick

Illamasqua Lipstick in Blaze
Eyeshadow Government caught up with beauty expert Leora Edut to discuss spring's happiest but trickiest makeup trend: orange lipstick.

So how do you hit the nail on the head?

Edut says, "If you're trying orange lips for the first time, go with a gloss instead of a lipstick.  This will give you more of a sexy, innocent look as opposed to a high fashion look."

She recommends Make Up Forever Lab Shine Diamond Collection Lip Gloss in D20 ($18) for a brighter take or D18 for a coppery, soft lip.

"For pay-attention-to-me orange lips, you can try Illamasqua Lipstick in Blaze ($22). The color is a mix of bright orange with a touch of fire engine red."

Another great, bold shade is YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #13 Le Orange ($30).  Should you discover the color is too wild for you, you can blot your lips with a tissue to take the shade down a notch.

If you follow these tips, soon you will be ripe enough to pick off a tree!

Edut's brilliant advice: Stop lipstick from bleeding by applying concealer around your lips AND dusting a light coat of powder on top.

Beauty Tip: Purple Mascara Adds Oomph

I recently read a makeup artist say that he first learned about the benefits of purple mascara from Madonna. If anyone knows about controlling her image and looking fabulous, it is the one and only Miss M.

You can wear purple mascara alone or over a coat of black mascara. Just let your black mascara dry first so you can see a bit of the purple! I love YSL's Mascara Singulier in #4 Deep Violet ($30, Sephora).

What's to adore?

This lush, posh mascara totally makes the color of my brown-hazel eyes pop.

Temptation struck at Sephora Times Square, and I couldn't resist. You can wear violet mascara with really bright pink lipstick for a look-at-me pop star effect, or keep things chill with a neutral, beige lip.

Party Girl

After non-stop mingling this weekend, today I am paying the price: a sore throat and lots of tea. Yesterday, I attended Beautylish's party with dozens of becoming blogging women and YouTube stars.

At the event, various beauty experts were on hand and I had my hair styled into one of those mussed sideways buns that I sometimes see, like, on a poster in hair salons. That hot girl printed on cardboard was so, so, so me Saturday. Yay!

I left the party with a massive gift bag which is making my head spin. My haul is like whoah (see a sampling below), but you can have some it too!

Just check out Eyeshadow Government next week for giveaways...beauty tips from a makeup artist you may have seen on Project Runway...awesome interviews...celebrity gossip...and more!
