OpenSky Beauty Breakfast: Interview With Celebrity Makeup Artist Pati Dubroff

Pati Dubroff is one of the most respected and high-profile makeup artists in the industry. Today, she spoke with Eyeshadow Government about her top picks for OpenSky, the social network for shopping. OpenSky has enlisted many of beauty's brightest stars, including Orlando Pita and Dubroff, to be curators for the site.

To celebrate the announcement of the site's new dedicated beauty section, a host of respected leaders in the makeup and skincare industries gathered high above Columbus Circle this morning to talk about the venture and their favorite products.

Today, I attended an event showcasing the fall 2012 collection from agnès b.  After the runway shows around the world, it is good to touch and see the designs up close. I plan on writing a longer article, but couldn't resist sharing a few snapshots.

Ladies in the Mist

On top of my regular beauty products, I have a thing for...face mist. Particularly, I am high on Skyn Iceland Arctic Face Mist With Multivitamin Complex ($29).  The water in this product comes from Heidmork, a government-protected nature reserve in Iceland. Ingredients like Vitamins A, B, C and E also are designed to reduce the effects of stress and combat inflammation. I used to see this product everywhere, but now it's a little harder to find (scroll down to see where you can buy it).

How to integrate face mist into your beauty routine: You can use a mist whenever you like, so for example, in the morning, spritz your face after applying skincare products and makeup. First, apply sunscreen. Then, apply a moisturizer or a serum. Next, bust out the makeup. After your makeup is where you want it to be, use the Skyn Iceland face mist to hydrate and set it. Your skin will appear dewy and gooooorgeous. In the afternoon, you can mist again several times to freshen up. To me, it seems like the water helps reactivate the ingredients in my daily moisturizer as well.


After using the Skyn Iceland Arctic Face Mist, I noticed my complexion appeared much more even and healthy. 


The beauty columns of fashion magazines often advise drinking 6 or 8 or, like, 600 glasses of water a day, but not all of us have the time to slurp a reservoir a day. This is one way of "cheating." Yay!

Check Out Jennifer Morrison's Makeup Look

Jennifer Morrison was pretty and fresh-faced at the Tribeca Film Festival with a bit of help from celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose. (Eyeshadow Government thought bubbles: Where are the three babies she is supposed to have with Dr. House? Jennifer should wear strapless white dresses more often to the hospital. Jennifer Morrison thought bubble replies: I'm a real person.) 

Here's how to get her hot look. Barose said, "I applied YSL Rouge Pur Couture #16 (Rouge Roxane) on lips, then blotted with paper towel and added Jouer Cosmetics lip & cheek Tint in Orchid." The YSL lipstick in #16 is red with orange undertones, and the Jouer Tint is a cranberry shade. Isn't she picture perfect?
